How can I get the money I need to pay rent?

my fiancee lost her job, I just got a job last month and we are about $300 short on the rent for this month. We cannot loose our home as we have an autisitic child and no-where to go.





What I need to know is are there any genuine websites for personal loans for people with bad credit???





If not, do you have any suggestions we have about a week to come up with the amount we are short or they will evict us..

Talk with your landlord and see if you can pay a late fee and get an extension.


Talk with your utilities and see if you can get an extension on those or a payment plan to use some of that cash.


Apply for food stamps (if you haven't already) to free up cash you would have spent there.


Temporarily increase the withholdings on your W-4 form at work to get more take home pay and use that spare cash (just remember to change them back after a couple of weeks and know that it will reduce your tax refund next year).


If you belong to a church, ask if they have an emergency assistance fund.


Salvation Army also often has emergency assistance funds.


Have your fiancee go get a job - any job - even fast food - to bring in some cash.


Ask friends, family, etc.
Take your paycheck stubs and walk into a payday lender and get $300 for the next 2 weeks or so. You will need a checking account and some other info to qualify, but they do not check credit. Expect to pay about $17 per hundred borrowed.





Take any valuable you may have and pawn it for a couple months to pay your rent.

I think http://www.prosper.com got shut down by the SEC, but you can try it if it's still available.


^^ I just checked the link, and it looks like they've skirted the issues with peer-to-peer lending regulations by using a bank as an intermediary. I was going to join Prosper as a lender a while back, but then the economic downturn happened and I dumped all my cash into the stock market for a much better return than I could get on personal loans.





Other than that, I'm sure you could probably sell some things to come up with the money, and possibly get an advance on your salary.





Eviction isn't instant, and they have to be reasonable, even if you are late, or miss a payment.





Whatever you do, don't go get a payday loan unless you are ready to pay 150%+ interest rates - they are taking advantage of people in a way that should be illegal.
